Dragons & the Drakebound

A God in Chains - Dragons.mp4
00:00/00:00

Dragons were here long before kingdoms.

They are not relics, not myths carved into ruined stone. They are ancient beings of draconic soul and primal force. Fire, water, wind, earth. Mind and memory. Soul and shadow. Void and absence. Their power is not learned. It is lived. When they take human form, their essence remains intact, but their full magnitude is restrained. What they are does not disappear. It is simply contained.

They do not borrow magic.

They are its source.

Full-blooded dragons are exceedingly rare.

The drakebound are rare as well, though more numerous by comparison. They are humans born with dormant dragon blood drawn from one of the Eight Ancient Bloodlines of Power. That inheritance is real, but diluted. It does not carry the wholeness of a true dragon. It carries potential.

Most of humanity holds no trace of this lineage. Those who do often live unaware that something vast and volatile sleeps beneath their skin.

The elemental bloodlines, fire, water, wind, and earth, are the most documented. Far rarer are the Mindborn, Soulbound, Umbradrake, and Voidwright lines. Each shapes the nature of what may awaken. Some bend storm or flame. Others influence memory, soul, shadow, or erasure itself.

No two awaken the same way.

Dormant dragon blood begins with stirrings. Instinct sharpened beyond reason. Wounds that close too quickly. A pull toward heights, storms, darkness, or silence. Magic reacting without invitation. The world feels thinner, closer to breaking.

Many dismiss it.

They should not.

Awakening is the term given to the moment dormant power rises into awareness. It can unfold slowly, like heat building beneath the skin, or erupt under terror, fury, grief, or proximity to dragon essence. Once it begins, the lie of normalcy collapses.

Unsealed marks the breaking point. Containment fails. Draconic power becomes active and undeniable. This threshold is irreversible. What was once potential becomes presence. What was hidden now demands control.

Ascended is a word spoken rarely and recorded even less. It refers to those believed to have achieved full draconic transformation.

Two paths are whispered of.

One is integration: growth through love, trust, experience, and deliberate acceptance of the dragon within.

The other is rupture: transformation forced through prolonged pain, torment, and relentless trauma.

Both change the body. Both change the soul.

The difference lies in what survives the process.
