City of Drakos

Nestled amid the rugged peaks of the Draken Realms, the City of Drakos sprawls as a labyrinth of ancient stone and shadowed secrets, where towering spires pierce the mist-shrouded sky and bustling markets echo with the clamor of traders and artisans. Yet beneath this facade lies a stark divide: the opulent Heights rise in pristine elegance, home to wealthy elites and scheming politicians who wield power from gilded estates, while the grim Lowstone district crumbles below, its narrow alleys choked with ash and despair, sheltering the working poor amid forgotten ruins, black-market dealings, and the constant hum of draconic intrigue that binds the city's fragile order.

The Resistance Camp

Hidden amid the dense forests west of Drakos, the Resistance Camp emerges as a makeshift bastion of defiance against the Veil of Embers' iron grip, its cluster of weathered tents and earthen barricades veiled by a shimmering magical barrier that twists light and conceals secrets from hostile gazes. Within its shadowed confines, rebels, refugees, and awakened drakebound gather around flickering campfires, forging fragile bonds through shared whispers of strategy and survival, where the air hums with the tension of impending raids and the unyielding resolve to shatter the chains of oppression that bind their world.

Veil of Embers Stronghold

Buried deep beneath the sprawling city of Drakos, the Veil of Embers Stronghold was carved from ancient volcanic rock in a time long lost to history. Its vast labyrinths of black basalt descend into uncharted darkness, where torchlight flickers across walls etched with draconic runes of binding, domination, and consumption. In this forsaken heart of power, the Ember Lord reigns supreme, his scarred form radiating unyielding authority as he presides over ritual chambers. Fanatical cultists chain captive dragons here and harvest their souls in service to a divine resurrection, while the singular hidden arena echoes with coerced spectacles of draconic fury, and sealed archives guard forbidden knowledge capable of reshaping the world—all enveloped in an atmosphere thick with zeal, dread, and the metallic tang of old blood magic.

Glossary of Terms

Reader’s Note

Language surrounding dragons and bloodlines is neither uniform nor neutral. What survives in public record is shaped as much by omission as truth. Meaning often depends less on definition than on who was permitted to write it.

Ascended

A term reserved for beings believed to have achieved full draconic transformation. References are rare, fragmented, and often contradictory.

Awakening

A common term describing the experience of dormant power surfacing within a drakebound individual. The word reflects perception, not mechanism.

Dragon

A common word used to describe the legendary beings once said to rule the skies. Imprecise, often inaccurate, and shaped more by fear and myth than truth.

Elderkin

A formal designation for true dragons. Ancient beings of will and power, spoken of cautiously in records, doctrine, and prophecy.

Pyreborn

A fire-aligned draconic aspect associated with flame, destruction, and renewal. Pyreborn manifestations favor escalation and raw output, often at great personal cost.

Stirring

An unstable phase marked by involuntary manifestations of power. Often triggered by stress, injury, or emotional rupture.

Terrabound

An earth-aligned draconic aspect associated with stone, endurance, and strength. Terrabound power reinforces structure and continuity, granting exceptional resistance to disruption once fully awakened.

Umbradrake

A shadow-aligned dragon lineage associated with concealment, fear, and emotional truth. Umbradrakes are linked to infiltration, silence, and unseen movement. Many records list them as extinct or unverified.

Veiled

A state in which draconic power lies dormant or suppressed. Veiling may occur naturally, by design, or through external intervention.

Voidwright

A draconic lineage recorded in no surviving registry. Officially declared extinct. All reliable records concerning Voidwright manifestations remain sealed or revoked by decree.

The following terms appear in records, doctrine, and spoken accounts. Meanings may shift by source.

Aspect

The inherited expression of draconic power bound to blood. An aspect governs how power manifests, though its full scope is rarely recorded.

Blood-Marked

A street term for the drakebound. Used among common folk as warning, accusation, or insult, depending on the speaker.

Drakebound

An individual born carrying draconic blood. Drakebound appear human, yet harbor dormant or partially awakened power inherited through lineage.

Mindborn

A rare draconic aspect associated with thought, memory, and restoration. Mindborn manifestations often involve healing, illusion, and the alteration or reinforcement of perception. Their power is subtle, invasive, and difficult to counter.

Soulbound

A draconic aspect associated with essence, continuity, and binding. Soulbound power links living beings through shared vitality or purpose, allowing strength and persistence beyond individual limitation.

Stormwrought

A wind-aligned draconic aspect associated with speed, force, and heightened perception. Stormwrought manifestations emphasize momentum, aerial dominance, and overwhelming action before resistance can form.

Tidebound

A water-aligned draconic aspect associated with flow, pressure, and adaptation. Tidebound manifestations favor persistence and momentum, carrying force forward regardless of resistance.

Unsealed

The moment at which suppressed draconic power breaks containment and becomes active. Irreversible once this occurs.

Void-Touched

A feared draconic aspect associated with absence and unmaking. Documentation is inconsistent, fragmented, or deliberately obscured.
