Seraphis Veyrith
Umbradrake. Last of the Shadow Bloodline.
Seraphis Veyrith was not meant to escape.
An Umbradrake of the House of Veyrith, she carries one of the last surviving shadow bloodlines in existence. The Veil of Embers did not seek her for sport or spectacle. They needed her. Her lineage was essential to complete what they are building beneath Drakos, and when they captured her, they intended to keep her.
The Resistance answered with seven elite fighters and her brother at their side. Seven died buying her freedom. The Veil allowed one to live. Her brother remains their prisoner.
She lives because others chose to fall.
Seraphis is not drakebound. She is dragon.
In human form, she appears composed and deliberate, dark hair drawn back, expression controlled, eyes that assess every room before she crosses it. Her power does not flare for attention. It gathers. Shadows answer her without hesitation. Sound dulls in her presence. Darkness folds at her command and carries her across distance without leaving a trace.
Captivity reshaped her. Grief sharpened her instincts into something precise and unyielding. Every breath she takes is borrowed from the seven who did not return. Every decision carries the weight of that exchange.
Then she meets Darren Calder.
He carries void in his blood. She carries shadow in her bones. Nothing about him is safe. His power unsettles her. His recklessness threatens exposure. His presence draws the kind of attention she survived by avoiding.
Trust is a risk. Desire is a liability.
He forces her to consider both.
He looks at her without fear, without reverence, without seeing her as a relic to be used. That alone makes him dangerous. He challenges the discipline that kept her alive, and he tempts the part of her that remembers what it felt like to fight for something other than survival.
If Darren becomes the vessel the Veil intends, she will end him before they can claim him.
If he chooses to resist, she will stand beside him.
Seraphis Veyrith is the blood the Veil failed to keep, and they know exactly what they lost.
